Petr Kocman was born in Brno on 6th April, 1976.
At the age of 9, Petr started performing live with his father, Zdenek Kocman, as a duo and later on as a guest of various bands. In 1989 Petr and his dad performed as guests of the Greenhorns at the Karl May Festspiele in Elspe, Western Germany, a festival, which also featured Pierre Brice, the legendary Vinnetou.
In 1987 Petr did a couple of shows with Michal Tucny, who became his friend, teacher and uncle.
In 1992 Petr and his dad put together a band, which adopted its name "Danovy unik" (Tax Evasion) from their good friend Honza Vycital, who came up with this idea, knowing that all the band members were self-employed. This band broke up in 1995, when Petr was invited to join the Greenhorns.
Petr's start was really impressive. At the age of 18 he became a member of the legendary band with all the celebrity members in the line-up. After their 30th anniversary concert in Lucerna in Prague, the Greenhorns toured Australia.
In 1998 Petr took part in the first country musical "Benzin a mejkap", where he impressively pictured Jackson, one of the main characters. The cast also featured Vera Spinarova, Marcela Spinarova, Tomas Linka, Denisa Markova and others. Not only could the audience see Petr sing, but also act, dance and even step.
Petr's debut album "Dej country stesti" was released in 1999 and the album release party was hosted by Pavel Bobek, Yvonne Prenosilova and Karel Vagner.
5 tours in the USA and 3 tours in Canada followed and during their stay in New York on the 11th September, 2001 Petr Kocman together with the Greenhorns, Vera Martinova, Mirek Cerny, Pepa Fousek and Allan Mikusek involuntarily witnessed the terrorist attack on the WTC.
In 2002 Petr founded his PK Band.
In 2004 Petr accepted another theatrical part and joined the cast of "Sakali leta" in Most for two seasons.
In 2004 Petr Kocman started touring as a regular guest with the Fesaci band
In August 2006 Petr left the Greenhorns to pursue a solo career.
He's not only a terrific musician (acoustic and electric guitars, harmonica, mandolin, buzuki), but also a first-class singer, studio player, producer and composer. His music can be heard in repertoires of numerous Czech artists such as Tomas Linka, Honza Vycital, the Greenhorns and also in a few TV documentaries and films.
Petr hosts his own radio show "Country Is Everything I Like" for a record label Multisonic, which released his first album "Dej country stesti". On this radio show, Petr plays music from his private collection consisting of more than 2000 CD's. The show is broadcast on six national radio stations once a week.
In 2006 Petr accepted an offer to host another radio show on the Internet radio Click and Country, which is the only radio in the Czech Republic playing pure country music. This show, in which Petr plays his favorite music, can be heard every other week.
Petr's fans can recognize his music not only from the radio, but also TV and numerous music videos.
Petr Kocman is credited on more than 70 albums.
Before Michal Tucny passed away in 1995, he declared Petr his successor.
